Historical Significance
To mark 100 years of Confederation (1867–1967), the Royal Canadian Mint replaced the regular reverse designs on Canada's circulating coins for 1967 with wildlife designs by artist Alex Colville. The five-cent coin shows a rabbit, and the obverse carries Arnold Machin's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. 36,876,574 were struck for circulation.
Why We Love This One
One of the friendliest designs Canada has put on a coin. An easy, affordable way to own a piece of the Centennial, and a nice partner for the 1967 silver coins.
