Historical Significance
To help pay for the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada issued 28 sterling silver coins in seven series of four between 1973 and 1976. They were the first Olympic coins Canada ever made, and the program raised money for the Games while giving collectors a set to build year by year.
Series I was the first of the seven, released in 1973 with a geographic theme that put Montreal and Canada on the map for the coming Games.
Why We Love This One
Where it all started: the very first series of Canada's Olympic coins, with over four ounces of sterling silver. A great anchor for a Montreal 1976 collection.
