Historical Significance
For America's 200th birthday the U.S. Mint gave the quarter, half dollar and dollar special dual-dated 1776–1976 designs. Alongside the copper-nickel coins for circulation, San Francisco struck 40% silver versions for collectors; 11,000,000 of the silver quarters were struck as regular (non-proof) coins.
