Historical Significance
As the Mint's insert explains, this dollar pays tribute to Canadians who answered the call to serve. The National War Memorial, officially unveiled in 1939 by King George VI, stands in Confederation Square in Ottawa as a reminder of "the Great Response" of Canadians in the service of humanity.
The Mint struck 103,746 of these in proof.
