Historical Significance

Canada's wartime 'V' nickel of 1943–1945 used Morse code around its rim to spell out a message of victory. For the 60th anniversary in 2005 the Mint brought back Thomas Shingles' V and torch with Paget's George VI portrait. This selectively gold-plated version was issued in the cover of the Royal Canadian Mint's 2005 Annual Report.

Why We Love This One

A wartime classic reborn in sterling and gold. Small, striking and full of meaning.
