A Canadian tiger swallowtail in full colour rests on an engraved dandelion. Celia Godkin's design opened the Royal Canadian Mint's Butterflies of Canada series in 2013, and the coin came in a lenticular box that makes the butterfly flap its wings as you tilt it.
Struck in 28.02 g of 99.99% pure silver, 40 mm across, proof finish with a serrated edge. The obverse carries Susanna Blunt's effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. It comes in the Mint's maroon clamshell with the lenticular outer box and serialized certificate. Only 10,000 were made.

Historical Significance
The Canadian tiger swallowtail is one of the country's most widespread butterflies, found from coast to coast. Unlike many swallowtails it produces a single generation a year. The Mint released this coin at $99.95 in 2013 and it has long been sold out.
Why We Love This One
Big, bright and beautifully coloured. The flapping-wings box is a favourite with kids and collectors alike.
