A 5 oz, 99.99% pure silver proof coin from the Royal Canadian Mint celebrating the Pingualuit Crater, the "Crystal Eye of Nunavik". The coloured reverse shows the crater lake under a night sky with the Moon, shooting stars and the Milky Way.

Under a black light, hidden elements glow to reveal the meteorite impact that formed the crater. This one has a very low serial number: No. 0008 of 2,500.

Historical Significance

The Pingualuit Crater on Quebec's Ungava Peninsula was formed by a meteorite impact about 1.4 million years ago and left an almost perfectly circular basin, now a crater lake. The obverse carries Susanna Blunt's effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
