The fourth coin in the Royal Canadian Mint's Tribute: W Mint Mark series gives the quarter the one-ounce treatment. Emanuel Hahn's caribou, on the 25-cent piece since 1937, is struck on 31.39 g of 99.99% pure silver, 38 mm across, with the 'W' mint mark of the Winnipeg facility.

The tailored specimen finish sets a satin caribou against a frosted field, and the obverse carries the King Charles III effigy by Steven Rosati. It comes with the Mint's black clamshell, black beauty box and serialized certificate. Mintage is limited to 7,500.

Historical Significance

Emanuel Hahn designed both the Bluenose dime and the caribou quarter for the 1937 coinage, and the caribou has stayed on the quarter ever since. The W Mint Mark series honours the Winnipeg plant that has struck Canada's circulation coins since 1976 by re-issuing each classic design in pure silver with the W mark.

Why We Love This One

The caribou we all know, finally at a size where you can see every hair of the antlers. Only 7,500 made – it pairs nicely with the Bluenose and Coat of Arms coins from the same series.
