2024 Canada $20 150th Anniversary of the Birth of L.M. Montgomery 1 oz Pure Silver Proof Coin – Coloured, Box & Certificate

Lucy Maud Montgomery, the author of Anne of Green Gables, is shown in profile as she was when she wrote the book, with her signature and her own cat drawing. In full colour beside her, Anne gazes out over Prince Edward Island. Brenda Jones designed the coin for the 150th anniversary of Montgomery's birth in 2024.

Struck in one ounce (31.39 g) of 99.99% pure silver, 38 mm across, proof finish with a serrated edge. The obverse carries Steven Rosati's effigy of King Charles III. It comes in the Mint's black clamshell with the graphic outer box and serialized certificate. Only 5,000 were made.

Historical Significance

Montgomery was born in Clifton (now New London), Prince Edward Island, on November 30, 1874. Anne of Green Gables appeared in 1908 and has never been out of print. The Mint marked her 150th birthday with this coin and a coloured circulation loonie.
